Owner and General Manager
I had never exercised regularly let alone gone to a gym in my life before 2013. Lack of exercise and not watching what I was eating led to weight gain all through my 30’s. Ultimately, I found myself weighing 350 pounds with high blood pressure, high triglycerides, low “good” cholesterol and on my way to being diabetic.
In 2013 I made the decision to undergo bariatric surgery as a tool to help me lose the excess weight and change my lifestyle. After losing some weight, I signed up for personal training at a local gym to learn how to exercise properly. I was extremely intimidated and self-conscious about going to the gym with so many people watching the “fat guy”, and for a while it was pretty uncomfortable.
That feeling eventually passed, but I can truly empathize with people in that type of situation - wanting to get started with exercise but intimidated by the gym setting. After a year working with a trainer, I wanted to do more to share what fitness is about, how important it is, and make it more approachable for the average person. I started ActiveBody Fitness to provide a less intimidating, more personal environment to learn about fitness without the distractions and drama of a typical gym.
We strive to offer a top-notch, positive training experience for our clients and I’m thrilled that we’re able to help them improve their overall fitness, daily life, and reach their goals!

Owner and Lead Trainer
I started my fitness journey at an early age, trying to figure why some people were stronger than others. I found it fascinating that by working out and lifting weights, I could be faster and stronger. My passion soon became my profession when I graduated from Carroll University with my Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and a Minor in Sports nutrition.
After college, I started personal training for the big-box gyms and found myself in a rut. I wasn’t a fan of putting the client second and focusing on quotas for the month, or being micro-managed on how to train my clients. We started ActiveBody Fitness in 2014 to put the focus back on clients so they receive the results they desire without the hassles of a big gym environment. I focus on weight loss, strength training, muscle mass, and toning. I’m also a big proponent of corrective exercise, and it has helped me personally with muscular imbalances and pain.
For those who are having pain in their joints or specific regions of the body, I'd be more than happy to show you what a detailed exercise regimen can do for you.

Wellness is something that is important to me and I think it goes further than just the way you look. I believe it is the way you present yourself, it’s how you feel and its confidence. I want to help spread this and teach individuals the benefits associated with maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
I became interested in fitness when I realized the affects it has on an individual’s physical performance, specifically in sports and I knew I could get stronger and faster if I began an exercise program that included resistance exercises. This is also the reason why I studied exercise science in college.
I specialize in weight loss, group training, sport training and injury prevention. I will tailor each program to the individual and design each workout so she or he has the best results. I will base this on long- and short-term goals, abilities, experience and desires.
Media and Events Coordinator
I have been an ActiveBody Fitness client since 2014. I started working with Brandon to help relieve sciatica and hip pain. By the fall of 2016, I had lost over 80 pounds and had a brand new hip. The strength and flexibility and nutrition changes helped me breeze through the surgery and had me back training after two weeks of recovery!
After retiring from a banking career, I was looking for a way to channel my passion for nutrition and fitness. ActiveBody invited me to join them as their Media and Event Coordinator in April of 2018. I have a Bachelor degree in Business from the University of Illinois and while working for Western Publishing and Southport Bank, I volunteered for and chaired their United Way campaigns.
Using that experience as a foundation, I coordinate media and events designed to enhance members’ experience at ActiveBody though increased knowledge of how our bodies work and how improved nutrition can improve one’s workout.
